Help the RPC Sustainability Team in taking apart our bee houses for the winter season!
We will be cleaning out the old nesting materials and any debris that has accumulated over the year. This will allow for fresh nesting sites for the next generation of bees in the spring.
We will be removing the old cocoons in the houses and extracting any new solitary bee eggs. We are doing this to protect the eggs from any parasites or diseases over the winter and to ensure their survival. We will also be counting up the cocoons to see which bee houses had the most activity.
NOTE: Strong stomachs required! We often encounter spiders, ants, and other insects that take up residence in the bee houses.
